A&B Sound in Nanaimo. Before the renovation, the building had an iconic purple exterior, with massive neon signage. In the background, you can see the Nanaimo harbour and waterfront.

SOMETHING NEW IN THE OLD A&B

Since A&B closed its doors in 2008, this iconic, kinda funny-looking building at One Commercial has mostly sat empty… so we figured it was about time we gave it some new life!

It won’t be a music store (sorry), but the building’s spirit as a cultural hub and local hangout isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Soundworks will be opening as a market hall, with new restaurants, bars & cafes sharing an airy communal dining room.

Under the watchful eye of Montroyal Contracting, in collaboration with the talents at Colin Harper Architects and Port & Quarter, the building is being lovingly restored to former glory.
